A Workbook on Group-Analytic interventions: PGI’s First Publication
The book provides an exceptionally rare glimpse into the practice of group therapy. These working materials have been gathered as part of a collaborative research effort involving members from both the Institute of Group Analysis (London) and the Group Analytic Society (London). Within its pages, seasoned therapists complete questionnaires featuring vignettes of situations that represent pivotal moments in the life of the group, calling for a response from the facilitator – more about creating opportunities than direct intervention.
This book can serve as a valuable resource for therapeutic training, offering a diverse range of approaches to address challenging situations and strategies for managing them. The practical insights are complemented by a theoretical exploration of topics such as intervention, interpretation, the therapeutic environment, destructive processes within groups, and more.
These texts are not only suitable for group therapists but also for anyone involved with groups and interested in harnessing the group’s resources as a platform for personal growth and the promotion of group dynamics that empower participants to maintain autonomy and self-determination. You can access the preface to the edition and a brief excerpt here.
